Summerside Chamber set to Celebrate on Wednesday, January 27

At 110th President’s Annual Dinner

Summerside: The Greater Summerside Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that His Worship Mayor Basil Stewart will be the keynote speaker at its 110th President‘s Annual Dinner. The event takes place on Wednesday, January 27 at the Loyalist Lakeview Resort, reception at 6:30 pm and dinner at 7 pm. Mayor Stewart will be sharing his perspective as the President of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Mayor Stewart has been involved in municipal politics since he was elected mayor of Summerside in November 1985. He has been returned to office in eight consecutive elections. Prior to and throughout his political career, Mayor Stewart has been involved with a range of community and service organizations. As a member of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities National Board of Directors, he has served as Chair of the National Economic Development Committee and Chair of the Atlantic Caucus. Mayor Stewart and his wife Gail have two children and six grandchildren.

Also during the evening, President Rudy Smith will pass the gavel to Blair Dunn, who will be sworn in as the 2010 Chamber President and will deliver his vision for the coming year. Gordon MacFarlane will be sworn in as President-Elect, and the 2010 Board of Directors will be introduced.
